PROPS

The day before our shoot we still had a lot to do. we had to find the props:

we were also still deciding on location; one of the teachers at our schools wife works in an office and so very kindly said we could use it but sadly it looked to much like a normal house and we really needed to get the feel of a journalist. We really liked the look of the colgate office in dorking but the problem was the they would not give us permission to shoot there and it seemed to big of a risk to do it without consent. Instead we just used the main house of our school as we changed it to the journalist leaving an interview. We also had to write dialogue if we were going to have it so the actors ( as they wernt actual actors) wouldn't have to just improvise.
The day of the shoot I woke up pretty excited but also apprehensive as I didn't know if it was all going to go to plan. but I think these nerves worked in my favour as it made me work harder I think. I was ready to go!
We were very much prepared I think as we had collected all the props already and had talked to the actors about costume. Before shooting we quickly talked over our idea and made a few adjustments due to weather and timings; initially we wanted to shoot it in the dark but as it gets dark around 5 that would have only given us a very shot time to film the whole of our sequence, also where we were filming it would have gotten too dark then continuity and actually being able to would have got in the way. So we decided it was more practical to do it in day light.  we also had a bit of a wardrobe malfunction as the coat we got didn't fit phil

but luckily we had an alternative that looked even better!

The car park we used was pretty perfect for the look of our concept so we didn't change it at all except moving some cars to make it look just a tad more deserted and just so we had more room to get the shots that we wanted.
We all had a go at everything on the shoot day. Camera, sound and directing the actors. This was a way better idea than assigning roles; as if we did that we would have only been able to do one thing and as a group we really wanted to try everything out.
One of our problems was that at one point we got the SD card stuck in the machine and it was not the correct model for the machine. It took around 5 minutes and a lot of different objects to prize this out but we got it in the end and it was a massive relief.

I think the most successful part of the day was when we finally got the shot of phil being shot. This scene proved rather trying as the gun shot and phil had to be in perfect harmony and as a crew we weren't really understanding each other but in the end we got it and we were really happy with how it looked.
I loved the day as a whole but my favourite part was probally filming the tracking shots were we got in the back of the car and filmed from the boot! it was a great experience to be able to do this.
I'm looking forward to seeing how the tracking shots themselves came out as I want to know if we kept the camera still enough for it to look normal! Also looking forward to seeing the interesting shots we took like the ones into a window mirror.
I think we worked great as a team as we all brought something to the plate and no one was just standing around. It was also not only hard work but fun as well and we got on really well and found it easy to bounce off each others energy and ideas.
Sadly when we got back to the editing suite when putting the files on to the computer we found they were corrupted and we couldn't restore them; what a disappointment :(. But we wouldn't get too down about it! it gave us a great opportunity to film again and fast as we knew exactly what shots we needed to get and how to get them.
