No.3

On wednesday we had another camera tutorial/workshop. This time it was way more practical than the last and we really got to get involved with filming and creating.
we learnt how to film a short sequence using the roles of director, actor and camera man. We learnt the rules and responsibilities of these roles and just exactly what they entail. We soon realised how loud and direct you have to be with your statements; as even in a small class it got extremely confusing and just imagine what it would be like on a real film set.
We first did a test run with our teachers; filming from many different angles and focus points of the same short simple sequence to get a variety of viewpoints so when it comes to editing you have many shots to pick and choose from. We also had to learn just how important continuity was when it came to filming.
We then split off into groups to experiment on our own. We were told to keep it simple, just to get a grip of every aspect. Then obviously in later stages we can get more creative and technical. so we came up with our sequence, we filmed it from different view points and camera movements/angles.
We then had to show our pieces to the class and discuss what we did well, and what could be improved. It was great to see what everyone came up with and the different shots they used to express different motives.
