After having major discussions with the group and our teacher Phil we made few but key changes to our thriller.
1) MP into Journalist.
We did this because its hard to show an audience through just costume and props that someone is an MP without giving them a backstory part were we would show his day or giving him a blindly obvious badge which is something we really did want to do. A journalist is easy/easier to show as we had the props of:
These small but key details can give the audience a massive insight into who the person is an what they do without making it stupidly and blindingly obvious.
2) Cutting the dad and child recording
This was most likely the biggest change we made and it was our main focus point for so long- it was basically what the story revolved around. Why we cut them was because in the end in crumbled down to what we wanted- a journalist being assassinated or a home video gone wrong because trying to merge them was like trying to find a needle in a hay stack it was impossible and was just too messy. So we went with the assassination as it is a classic thriller plot and seemed more exciting to shoot on the day.
