Research into the conventions of homepages within a genre of your choice

TEEN POP

I chose teen pop to research as I think they have the most reoccurring conventions and probably the boldest.

I first looked at one direction and their website.

• name of band at top- to establish and brand, this font is also used of merchandise and album covers.
• large image of boys dominates page- this is a common convention of pop as it is all about their image and hardly about the music
• Menu bar to help easily navigate site, the fans have everything they wished for at a click of the button; even the lyics.
• social networking eg instagram and Facebook, for fans to keep up to dated and feel connected to the boys.
• music video plays when land on page so you have to hear it or consciously turn it off.
• font of band name fun, informal, goes along with artwork which reinforces their star image of fun and down with the kids.
